This month Skintflicks completed two films for Think Local Act Personal or ‘TLAP‘, which is a ‘national partnership transforming health and care through personalisation and community-based support’.
Both films show how projects by Deaf charities have contributed to ‘Making it Real’, a set of progress markers identifying needs, expectations and requirements of the recipients of services and their families. The films were commissioned as part of the report about the initiative and appear as links in the report and on the TLAP website.
The films set out to show two services for Deaf people from the recipients’ point of view, and the challenge was how to make fully accessible films featuring people who exclusively communicate using BSL, or a version of sign language. RAD specified their film should have BSL as a first language, so we incorporated voice-over and music into what was an almost entirely silent film.
There is also a version of the ‘Pippin House’ film with a BSL on-screen interpreter.
“This looks absolutely brilliant Fiona everyone is really pleased with it, thank you so much.”
